The beautiful views across Positano.

In February, Andrea Golder, GTO for Thames Valley Tours, organised a three-night break to Italy’s Amalfi Coast for 28 group members with The Travel Adventure of East Sussex.

Flying into Naples with easyJet, the group undertook a two-hour coach tour of the city before reaching Sorrento, their base for the next few days. Andrea comments, “The group bookings team at The Travel Adventure arranged our flights, transfers and hotel. We stayed at the Hotel Villa Maria, which is a very good hotel for groups. It was clean, comfortable and in a nice part of town.”

Of Sorrento, Andrea recalls, “It was a beautiful quaint town with lots of lovely shops and delicatessens. Our hotel was also within walking distance of the charming fishing village Marina Grande.”

The group spent a day exploring the Amalfi Coast on a coach tour, which offered stunning views around every bend. Enroute, the group stopped at a viewpoint above the village of Positano where colourful houses cascaded down the hillside, and had time to visit the town of Ravello and take a 45-minute boat trip from Amalfi for a different perspective of the coast.

Andrea adds, “On the last full day, I ran an optional trip to the ancient Roman town of Herculaneum, which was wiped out by the same eruption that destroyed Pompeii in AD 79. We packed so much into the break; it was extremely good value for money.”
